Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website.  We hope that you visit and worship with us.

Christ Covenant Church is a diverse congregation attracting people from Midland and the surrounding communities including of Bay City, Saginaw, and Mount Pleasant.  Our church can be summarized in the following words: Biblical, Thoughtful, Reverent, and Reformed.

Biblical – The authoritative source of our beliefs are the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

Thoughtful – As heirs of the Protestant Reformation, we bring the riches of that era into the context of our lives in the 21st century.  As we read Scripture and apply it to our lives, we make clear distinctions between the Law and the Gospel.  In short, we focus on the indicatives (what God has done for us in Christ), as the basis for the imperatives (commands) we find in Scripture. We do not want to bind consciences or speak where Scripture does not speak.

Reverent – Our approach to God is informed by His majesty and works in redemptive history, as revealed in Scripture. We are guided by Hebrews 12:28-29, which implores believers to worship God “with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”

Reformed – The Reformed Tradition has its origin with John Calvin, but can hardly be limited to him or to the Five Points of Calvinism. As Presbyterians, our doctrinal beliefs are found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and its catechisms, which have been long considered the highpoint of reformed theology and its clearest expression.  From time to time we alse utilize the Three Forms of Unity (the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dordt).

In 2017 we changed our denominational affiliation from the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC). We are part of the Presbytery of Michigan and Ontario.  Go to the following link to learn more: https://www.all-of-grace.org/pres/
