World and Local Missions:
Sometimes, churches like ours are accused of not caring about the lost and the cause of world missions. Such generalizations are not true of Christ Covenant Church. On two different occasions, we sponsored Wycliffe Bible Translators and their aviation wing JAARS (Jungle Aviation and Radio Services) at the Midland Barstow Airport to inform the public about the ongoing work of Bible translation. People were able to fly in the same aircraft (fixed wing and helicopter) used to transport linguists and translators into remote regions. We hope to host JAARS again in the near future.
We have previously supported several career missionaries in places as diverse as Japan, France, Germany, and the Ukraine. Through our denomination we currently support missionaries in Uganda, Haiti, Uruguay, Quebec, Thailand, Ukraine, Japan, and several other countries.
We are committed to local missions, as evidenced by our support of Life Clinic of Midland and other agencies in our community. LifeClinic Community Resource is a faith-driven organization restoring hope by offering physical, emotional and spiritual support to our community.
Our church has organized teams for short-term missions, and our first mission involved working on a First Nations Reserve (Cree) in Moose Factory, Ontario, positioned at the mouth of James Bay.
In recent years members of our church have worked in Quebec City assisting a sister congregation affiliated with Eglise Reformee du Quebec (ERQ) with their English 4 Kids and English 4 Teens programs. Another member spent time in Uganda. We continue to look for new opportunities to serve.
